Dorado - Full Stylized Environment Breakdown | Unreal Engine 5

This post showcases the full breakdown of my Dorado stylized environment project in Unreal Engine 5, inspired by the iconic visual identity and atmosphere of Overwatch.

The goal of this breakdown is to walk through the complete environment art process behind the project, from reference gathering, blockout and composition to modular kits, props, materials, trim sheets, mesh trims, foliage, lighting, set dressing and final cinematic presentation.

The environment was developed following a complete real-time AAA environment art pipeline, with a strong focus on stylized readability, modular workflows, game-ready asset creation, material consistency and visual storytelling.

This breakdown covers the main decisions and workflows used throughout the project, including scene planning, asset production, high to low poly workflows, UVs, baking, stylized texturing, shader setup, foliage creation, lighting passes and final Unreal Engine 5 implementation.

My main objective was to understand and recreate the strong color language, gameplay-oriented composition and clean visual readability characteristic of Blizzard’s stylized environments while building a complete game-ready environment from scratch.

Created using Unreal Engine 5, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Marmoset Toolbag and SpeedTree.
